Forgotten Children

In 2016 Jessica Verhagen found a travel diary written by the grandfather she never knew. The diary described the history - never talked about in the family - of a children's transport her grandfather had led during the war.

Her research into what happened to the little children of the transport was turned into a book Forgotten Children, that has been translated into English and now even into a film !

The book and the movie are about the desperate journey of 45 famished children in two barges from Reeuwijk in the west by way of the IJsselmeer to Drenthe in the north-east during the war, in March 1945. Their lives were saved by this.

On this site you'll find more information about book, the movie and you will see photos taken during the filming. And you can ask questions or tell your own story als u dat wilt.
